Reformation Day is public holiday in 2025 in Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Lower Saxony, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia.

On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther's theses: Reformation Day was a unique nationwide holiday on 31.10.2017. Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony and Bremen have thereupon decided to make Reformation Day a permanent public holiday from 2018.
